(Dublin, OH) The City of Dublin has received a $340,000 grant from the State of Ohio to fund a waterline replacement project. The grant comes from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s Ohio BUILDS (Broadband, Utilities, and Infrastructure for Local Development Success) program. Grant money will support the City’s Waterline Replacement – Phase VII project, which will replace aging water mains to improve service, increase water pressure and reduce outages.
The Phase VII project locations are within Muirfield Village and include Preswick, Haddington, Avemore, Liberton, Zetland and Culross courts. As part of the project, older two-inch and three-inch water lines will be replaced with six-inch and eight-inch water lines for more reliable water service. Construction is expected to begin in spring/summer 2024, following a bidding process to select a contractor.
This is one of 90 projects receiving state grants to address critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Ohio communities. In total, 64 counties will receive a total of $135 million through Ohio BUILDS.
“We appreciate the State’s investment in Dublin’s water utility infrastructure. Upgrading waterlines is a costly but necessary investment and will provide residents with improved service levels and reliable and safe water access. This grant money allows us to offset expenses while improving the quality of life for our residents,” says Deputy City Manager Robert Ranc.
The Ohio BUILDS water infrastructure grants are a continuation of Governor DeWine’s H2Ohio initiative, which launched in 2019 to focus on ensuring plentiful, clean and safe water for communities across the state.
